Kate & James Wedding

Today we are traveling to The Atherton Hotel in State College for the Wedding Ceremony & Reception of Kate & James. We met these two at the 2018 Central PA Bridal Expo when they were still shopping around for DJs. We met with the again a few months later to discuss their vision and wants for their wedding.

It turns out that even though it is now fall in Central PA, Mother Nature is not done with her silly little tricks. That's right! She decided this time not to rain several inches, but snow, as a matter of fact close to 12 inches of snow fell on Wednesday the 14th. This pattern needs to stop Ms. Nature.

Anyway, it is now 3PM on the 17th, time for the ceremony!

James, Judge Grine, and the rest of the bridal party walk down front and take their places to "Going The Distance" by Bill Conti. Next up is the bridal party taking their places to "Canon In D" by Pachelbel. Then everyone rises as Kate makes her way down the aisle on the arm of her Godfather to a string version of "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen.

After Judge Grine presents the new Mr & Mrs DeSousa, Kate and James walk back up the aisle to "Born To Run", followed by the bridal party. While guests are encouraged to go out to the lobby for cocktail hour, while the room is reset, Kim of Kimberly Wright Photography takes the bride, groom, and bridal party for pictures.

Once the room is reset we bring all the guests back in while we line up the bridal party of the Grand Entrance. Which is followed by Kate & James taking the floor for their first dance "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Michael Buble. Followed by the Godfather/Daughter Dance of "Stand By Me" by Florence and the Machine, and James dancing with his mother to "Your Song" by Elton John for the Father/Daughter Dance.

Toasts are then given by the Maid Of Honor and Best Woman, and the blessing is given by the groom's father, before we are served a wonderful meal by the staff at The Atherton Hotel.

Once dinner is over we move on to cake cutting. However before we move on, we should mention that yes those are ponchos, because....well you never know who is going to take a cake to the kisser. James actually ended up with a good bit of cake in his beard.

We then open up the dance floor with some Sister Sledge and "We Are Family"

We played the Mr & Mrs Game and found out that James spends more money, but Kate is more likely to give the other food poisoning. We ended the night with "Far From Over" by Frank Stallone, and then after everyone said 1 more song...we closed the night with "Dancing Queen" by ABBA.

Congratulations Again To Mr & Mrs Desousa!

The Millbrook Marsh Nature Center occupies about 60 acres of the Millbrook Marsh, lowlands along  along Spring Creek and Slab Cabin Creek   If you are still looking for a venue for your wedding, take a look at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center's  website or Facebook Page or call  (814) 235-7819

Venue Spotlight April 28, 2019

Next week begins the full brunt of wedding season and each week we are going to spotlight the venues we visit. So if you are planning a wedding or event, keep your eyes on our blog page. On the off weekends this wedding season we will continue to spotlight some of the places we visited last year. With that said, this week let's head right down the road from us to Harmony Forge in Bellefonte, PA. We were here for 2 weddings last year. In August we helped Todd and Paige get married and in October we were here for Nicole & Christopher's Wedding.  How about a little history! The Harmony Forge property dates back to the 1790s. It is the site of the Harmony Forge/Milesburg Iron Works that was built after the Revolutionary War. There is no definitive date to when the mansion was built, but can be dated to somewhere between 1796 and 1820.  The iron works no longer exist but the mansion does, and the property has seen many different reincarnations over the year,

Bellefonte Area High School Class Of 1998 Reunion

Saturday Night we had the pleasure of Djing the 20th Reunion of the Bellefonte Are High School Class of 1998. (It's actually 21 but....shhhhh!) The Nittany Country Club put out a wonderful dinner spread and we redid the slide show they had put together years ago, and added a few highlights from the 10 year reunion. It's always fun to catch up with people you have not seen in years.  Here is the slide show we redid: Talk to us today about your class reunion!
